Volunteering

Fond du Lac BMX is an all-volunteer non-profit organization.  Fond du Lac BMX relies on volunteers who dedicate their time and help before and during our events.  Without our volunteers there would be no Fond du Lac BMX.  We are always looking for volunteers to step up and make our races possible.  Parents, racers, family members, and spectators can all be involved in a number of ways.

Want to keep busy while your child or family member rides or races? Just see a staff member or stop by registration and ask how you can help.  We'd love to get you involved at whatever level you're comfortable with.  We won't survive without volunteers.

Volunteering of course is not a requirement but can be a very rewarding experience for you or your child.

Listed below are some volunteer examples of how you can help out at Fond du Lac BMX, your participation will help preserve this fine race facility.

Track Maintenance - The beginning of the race season is when we need the most help the track needs to brought up to par; this requires lots of Raking, Stone picking, Patching, Weed whacking, Painting structures and Rolling of the track surface.  Work days are scheduled through out the race season to maintain the Race Track and Facility.

Corner Judges - Corner Judges are responsible for monitoring riders on the track looking for illegal contact, riders cutting across the track, and for assisting riders who have crashed or fallen while directing traffic around a fallen rider.

Staging and Staging Assistance - Stagers are responsible for the organization of riders at the gate and in staging riders to prepare for their motos.

Scorers - Scorers are responsible for writing down the finishing order of each rider in a moto and providing race results to the track officials for proper scoring.

Track Announcer - Track Announcer is responsible for calling the race, announcing what is happing on the track, calling the riders to the track for there motos, matching riders numbers to there names, and general track announcements before during and after a race.

Volunteering at the track has other incentives too like tax write offs for your expenses to drive to the track; a staff member can tell you all about those.

You can inquire or signup anytime at registration when you feel that you're ready to help out at the track.  Thanks!

Thank you!

To the rider’s who come to practice and race at the track we're here for you!

To all the volunteers who rake, sweep, weed, cook, clean, serve and generally work diligently to help make our track the great place it is.

To the City of Fond du Lac Park & Recreation Department for their tremendous support.

To all the generous track sponsors.

BMX Racing

The BMX track was started to get kids interested in a physical activity that teaches the value of hard work, perseverance, and a sense of self satisfaction.

BMX racing is a family sport open to all ages and gender, ages range from 3- 60+ years old.  In 2008 BMX racing became an Olympic sport.

Riders compete in 2 to 3 qualifying heat races and then advance to a main event in their respective age groups,  in the main event rider's receive awards for their achievements. There are links throughout the web site to print membership forms that you can prepare at home and bring to the track on Race Day.  Have fun at the races!
